Qualifications
Freemasonry is open to men over the age of 18 who believe in a Supreme Being and the immortality of the soul.
Freemasonry does not require belief in any specific religion. Our members include Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and deists, to name a few.
No one is invited to join. Every man must decide on his own and seek Freemasonry of his own free will and accord. Masonry also does not give any special consideration to wealth, careers, or family history. It is the internal, and not the external, that recommends a man to Masonry.
To petition for membership in Park Avenue Lodge (or any other lodge under the Grand Lodge of Tennessee), you must be a resident of Tennessee. If you live across the river in Arkansas or down in Mississippi, we can put you in contact with a local lodge in your state.

The Process
The first step in joining is reaching out and visiting Park Avenue Lodge. Come take a tour and meet some of the brothers. Many men join Masonry without knowing any Masons beforehand. Guests are always welcome to come join us for dinner. During that time, we can show you our building, get to know you, and answer any questions you may have. We are proud of our building and enjoy giving tours to the public (including to people who are not interested in joining or are ineligible for one reason or another). Park Avenue Lodge's monthly stated meeting is the second Tuesday of the month with the fellowship hour beginning at 6:00pm, but there are generally a few brothers at the lodge on most Tuesdays starting at 6:00pm.
The lodges in Memphis all work closely together and practice the same traditions, but you may decide that our location or schedule is not convenient for you. If that is the case, we are happy to put you in contact with the lodges in the other parts of Memphis and the surrounding suburbs.
If you decide you would like to apply for membership in Park Avenue Lodge, you must submit a petition. The petition is a membership application that asks for information about yourself, and it also includes a multi-state background check. The petition must be signed by two members of Park Avenue Lodge. If you do not currently know any members, you should visit the lodge to meet the brothers. A copy of the petition is available here, but a printed copy can be provided to you in-person.
